The Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, Mr Kwasi Pratt has censored the NDC Administration, saying, it has failed fishermen, considering the shortage of premix fuel which is adversely affecting their work, especially at this crucial time which is the peak season of their trade. Speaking on Peace FM’s Morning Show ‘Kokrokoo’, Mr Pratt said, Ghanaians must politicize the shortage because the NDC party during the campaign period promised to solve problems like these, to ease the harsh living conditions that had been the lot of fishermen for so long. He described the current shortage as awful and blamed not only the government but also the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) and the National Petroleum Authority (NPA). Mr Pratt further alleged that his investigations show the current shortage has engendered corruption in the system where some oil marketing companies (OMC’s) pay bribes before they get fuel from TOR. He added that the NDC won the 2008 election because they used the premix fuel problem at that time to campaign against the NPP administration and must therefore find solution to the problems we are currently facing or else they will be voted out of power in 2012. He described the incident as a disgrace to the NDC administration. He stated “I’ll not agree with anyone who says we shouldn’t politicize it, we must, because Mills and his people promised us and have failed us.” Source: www.peacefmonline.com |
