Insist on Your Right to Education

Uneducated citizenry is like a pitch any game can be played on it. Illiteracy is what has given the politicians in Ghana the chance to fool so many people for so a long a time.

Bishop Obinim Speaks Out

BISHOP DANIEL Obinim, Founder and General Overseer of International God’s Way Church in Kumasi has denied media reports suggesting that his wife Florence has deserted him.

Reacting to the allegations on Nhyira FM and a number of other radio stations in Kumasi, the man of God described the story as untrue saying, “I only had a small problem with my wife”.

It would be recalled that DAILY GUIDE in its Tuesday July 28, 2009 edition, carried a front page story entitled, “Gospel star dumps husband”.

In the said story, it was reported that Mrs. Florence Obinim, who is three months pregnant and one of Ghana’s renowned gospel singers, has packed bag and baggage and left her matrimonial home together with her two kids to London without the knowledge of her husband.

The 2007 Best Gospel Discovery of the year, according to the publication, was said to have carried out the action somewhere last week following a heated quarrel she picked with the 32-year old Bishop.

Though he failed to describe the nature of the small problem he had with his wife, Bishop Obinim disclosed that attempts were being made to resolve the impasse between him and his wife.

Emphasizing that problems are bound to happen in marriages and that his marriage is not an exception, the man of God who presides over one of the biggest congregations in the Ashanti region, wondered why the media would want to make a mountain out of a molehill in his case.

Bishop Obinim denied threatening to end his life prematurely in front of his congregation should his wife, who he has been married to for five years, fail to return to their matrimonial home.

He however stated that what he told the congregation was that had it not been for the divine intervention of God, the creator of mankind and the heavenly bodies, he could have committed suicide due to the gravity of the crisis he had with his wife.

Against this background, the founder and General Overseer said he asked his congregation to fast and pray for him, so that he could be filled with the strength of God in order to withstand his predicament.

Mrs. Obinim who also spoke on Nhyira FM and many other radio stations in the Garden City, equally wondered why the media would be interested in problems she was having in her matrimonial home.

“Am I the only married person in Ghana who is having difficulties in my matrimonial home?” the celebrated gospel star asked furiously.

Sounding irritated, Mrs. Obinim wondered why the media was not interested in projecting the wonderful things her husband has been doing in his church but was rather engrossed in highlighting her marital difficulties.

Meanwhile, fresh information reaching DAILY GUIDE indicates that the renowned gospel musician who had completed her traveling plans abandoned her intentions at the last hour due to a publication in a local newspaper in Kumasi, the Kumasi Mail.

Mrs. Obinim, according to information gathered by this paper, vacated her matrimonial home with her two kids to Accra somewhere last week immediately after she was engaged in what sources described as fiery fisticuffs with her husband, with the view of traveling abroad to avoid him.
