Insist on Your Right to Education

Uneducated citizenry is like a pitch any game can be played on it. Illiteracy is what has given the politicians in Ghana the chance to fool so many people for so a long a time.

Are Expensive Funerals The Only Way?

There’s a Biblical saying which goes like this: “let the dead bury their dead” but in the real world, where the living bury the dead, bereaved families turn to be undecided; whether to have a simple funeral and save money to keep the rest of the family on their feet or to 'blow' money away with an expensive celebration of life - this they may do to pay their last respect to their deceased relation in a grand style.

The typical Ghanaian funeral ceremony takes 3 days, Friday(wake-keeping), Saturday (main burial) and Sunday (Thanksgiving service), preceding these 3 days are several meetings which come along with eating and drinking - all amounting to huge sums of money being accumulated into the funeral budget.

These days aside the colourful posters, radio, TV and newspaper announcements, billboards have become the next style that chief mourners have adopted to announce the death of their relation. Caskets and tombs are specially designed with costs beyond compare. Others have the view that a great person deserves a huge funeral where as a commoner will settle for what they call a normal funeral ceremony.
